Drawings and Paintings
Drawing is my first love in art. I love the texture of and visceral connection to the material. Usually (but not always) I draw manically and physically. First came charcoal, then pencil and pen. Later on, pastels (hard and soft). My obsession in drawings starts and ends with expressive human faces. Certainly, other subject matter is present and accounted for, but it’s not really the same thing for me.
Here, I’ve included what I think is a representative sample – both sketches and scraps in addition to fully realized pieces – and they span the 20 years between age 12 and the present. I do that because, more than anything else in my life, these drawings are my diary and my story. To leave too many out would be to present an inadequate, abridged edition.
