“Creative Diversity–Diverse Creativity: A Dialogue on Arts, Cultural Exchange, and Social Development”

A Panel being held at Artomatic and in Second Life

 Thursday, May 17th, 6:30 – 8:00 pm EST

This panel is being held at Artomatic (2121 Crystal Drive, Arlington, Va.) as well as in Second Life. If you cannot make it in person, feel free to join virtually.  We will be broadcasting the audio and video from the panel into Second Life and the virtual audience will be able to ask questions of the panelists and interact with the real life audience through a “chat” interface. (A short tutorial in getting around Second Life will be available at the bottom of this page shortly.)

If you are new to Second Life, follow these instructions to join us May 17th (If you already have a Second Life account, just click HERE):

1. Download the Second Life client from HERE
(Choose the “Second Life Installer”)

2. Install the Second Life client on your computer by opening the downloaded file and accepting the defaults

3. If you agree to the following licensing text that Second Life needs me to communicate to you, click this link: REGISTER FOR SECOND LIFE HERE

Your end users are registering for Second Life Accounts and use of the registration process through the Registration API will transmit registration information to Linden Lab. You must establish binding end-user terms of service or other binding contractual agreement with your end users that require such end users to acknowledge and agree that: their registration information will be provided to Linden Lab for use in registering an Account in Second Life; their use of an Account in Second Life will require their agreement to the SL Terms of Service and will establish a contractual relationship between them and Linden Lab; you are not a Linden Lab employee, joint venturer, partner, or affiliate (other than your agreement to the SL Terms of Service and the API Terms); they release Linden Lab from all claims and liabilities due to any action or inaction by you, or any interaction or transaction they have with you.

 4. Once you have registered, run “Second Life” from your start menu and log in with the first name, last name, and password you just created.

 You will be dropped into the SintixErr Gallery where the panel is being held. Follow the signs to the discussion area.

ABOUT THE PANEL

“Creative Diversity–Diverse Creativity: A Dialogue on Arts, Cultural Exchange,and Social Development” panel intends to:

  • Deepen our understanding of artistic and cultural diversity
  • Highlight the importance of individuality, preserving cultural identity and heritage as well as the synthesis of culture
  • Discuss the role of arts in creating cross-cultural dialogue and building local-global communities.
